The Expandables is a card game that is all about betting! The game can be played with a regular deck of 52 cards, or with specialized expandable cards. To set up the game, each player is dealt 6 cards face down. The rest of the deck is placed face down in the middle of the players. The top card of the deck is turned over to begin the turn. On a player's turn they must either play a card, or bet.

If playing a card, the player must place it face up in front of them. If playing a wild card, the player must place it face up and announce to all players what type of wild it is (i.e. spade, club, diamond). If playing an expandable card, the player must place it face up and announce to all players what number it represents (i.e. 1-10). If playing an Ace, the player may either place it next to another Ace to form a two-card combo, or they can place it next to any other number card to represent that number (Ace=1). At any time during their turn, a player may bet by placing any number of cards from their hand facedown in front of them.

When both players have no cards left in their hand, the player with the highest value card on the table (aces are high) wins the hand and takes all of the cards on the table as their winning bet. After winning a hand, if they have any cards left in their hand they must place them back in front of them facedown. The turn then passes to the next player clockwise. The game continues until one player has run out of cards. That player loses and all other players win their bets (or part thereof).
